Boat House Restaurant, LBI
Beach Haven is the busiest part of Long Beach Island and in the summertime it’s bustling with people looking to enjoy scenic views and quality seafood. Many of these beach goers find both at Boat House, a waterfront restaurant with coastal cuisine and the perfect dining atmosphere. Chef Mike Lioudis is the executive chef and has been working in LBI for 20 years. Before coming to Boat House six years ago, Chef Mike worked at Black Whale Bar & Fish House and Tuckers Tavern, two well-known LBI establishments. Growing up, his father had a restaurant, so the heat of the kitchen was always familiar to him.
The restaurant has a great bay view and garage doors that can open up giving the space an airy, welcoming feel. The restaurant is busiest during the summer months, but remains open in the early spring and late autumn for weddings and private events. Their sister company, Taste Catering, is a premier caterer in the area and the 2500 square foot open aired dining deck can accommodate up to 200 people. In addition to weddings and large parties, Boat House also has a fish market attached to the restaurant, with fresh product coming in each morning.
Chef Mike gave us some insider tips on what to order at the restaurant. For an appetizer, he says start with the Crab Nachos which comes with three cheeses and tricolor tortilla chips. Next, order the Day Boat Seared Scallops with Sweet Potato Applewood Bacon Hash and Saffron Corn Cream. For an entrée, go with the Wasabi Crusted Tuna with Pickled Ginger Aioli, Jasmine Rice and Sugar Snap Pea Salad in Ponzu Dressing. However, you can’t go wrong with choosing their other seafood options.
Boat House has become a favorite spot for everyone who travels to LBI each summer. A night at Boat House is marked by great seafood and great memories, which is what summer is all about, in in our opinion.
