PRODUCT INFO
Coopers Shoals Red Drum
Marine red drum, is commonly known as redfish or spottail sea bass. It is a game fish native to the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico and is found in coastal waters from Massachusetts to Tuxpan, Mexico. Red drum travel in shoals (schools) and are aggressive eaters, feeding on shrimp and small fish such as menhaden and mullet, at times in waters so shallow that their backs are exposed.
The light, white meat of Copper Shoals Red Drum® tastes mild, not bland. It has a robust texture that adapts well to many cooking methods. Grill, steam, bake, pan sear or stir fry…it’s delightfully versatile. A generous 6 ounce serving contains just 220 calories and no trans fat. Delicious Copper Shoals provides 35 grams of protein and many beneficial nutrients
including Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, calcium, and iron.
Copper Shoals®- farms are located inland, along the Texas Gulf Coast. Fish develop in our hatchery and then are transferred to carefully monitored, natural ponds filled with water from a saline aquifer and the Texas bay system. There, Copper Shoals Red Drum® mature over time, nourished by a specially formulated diet rich in proteins, vitamins, and minerals.
Copper Shoals Red Drum® are harvested, packed, and shipped under a tightly controlled cold chain that preserves quality and maximizes shelf-life. Our cold chain begins at the pond bank, where fish are carefully scooped up and plunged into an ice slurry.
They are immediately transported to our HACCP-compliant, refrigerated facility to be computer graded and placed in premium boxes filled with flake ice. Meanwhile, dedicated trucks stand ready at our
docks to give Copper Shoals Red Drum® a cold and cushioned ride to customers.
